Importing an OPML file

AndroidiOS

Bringing your subscriptions over from another podcast app in one file.

OPML is the file every podcast app uses to hand over a list of subscriptions. Export one from the app you are leaving, then open Import subscriptions from a file on the Add subscription screen and pick it.

Choosing what to bring

Mediagg reads the file and shows you what is in it before adding anything. Nothing is subscribed to until you choose — the button counts your selection, so it reads Choose what to add until you have picked something and then Add 12.

That step matters more than it sounds. A list exported after several years of listening usually contains shows you stopped caring about, and this is the easiest moment to leave them behind.

Not everything will arrive

When it has finished, Mediagg says how many of them worked — added so many of so many — and then why:

The rest did not answer. An export is a snapshot, and some of what it lists has moved or gone.

That is normal, and it is not a fault in the file. Podcasts stop publishing and feeds change address, and an OPML file records where a show was on the day it was exported.

If the file will not open

There are no subscriptions in that file, or it could not be read. means Mediagg found nothing it recognised. Check that you exported subscriptions rather than, say, a playlist, and that the file arrived whole.
