The Subscriptions section
The Podcasts, Episodes, New and Providers chips, and what leaves the inbox.
Subscriptions holds everything you follow — podcasts, the station playlists you have subscribed to, and single streams you pasted. Four chips along the top ask four different questions of it.
| Chip | What it lists |
|---|---|
Podcasts | Your podcast subscriptions, as a grid of artwork |
Episodes | Every episode of those podcasts |
New | Episodes you have not dealt with yet |
Providers | Stations and streams — everything that is not a podcast |
Podcasts is where a fresh install lands. The chip you last used is remembered, so the section reopens where you left it.
Podcasts and Providers
These two list subscriptions rather than episodes, and they are split because they do not look alike. A grid of podcast artwork is scannable; a station playlist dropped into it is a row with nothing to show. So stations and pasted streams live on their own chip.
Both offer Refresh all, Add a feed, and a switch between Show as list and Show as grid.
Empty, Providers explains itself: No stations or streams yet. Playlists you subscribe to from a provider, and addresses you paste, show up here.
New, and what it means
New is the inbox: episodes you have never dealt with. Every row there carries a New badge.
Something leaves the inbox when you deal with it, and there are four ways:
- Queueing it — putting something in the queue is dealing with it
- Playing it — anything played joins the queue, so this is the same thing
Remove from inbox, from the episode's own menuMark as played
Empty, it says Nothing new. New episodes will show up here as your subscriptions publish them.
Only podcasts have an inbox. A radio station has no episodes to arrive, so nothing of that kind ever appears on New.
Refreshing
Pull down on any of the four to refresh. See Checking for new episodes.
