Making room
What gets deleted when the space you allowed runs out, and when.
Keep at most sets a ceiling on downloads. When the limit is reached, delete, under Making room, decides what happens when a new episode arrives and the ceiling is already reached.
The four policies
| Policy | What it deletes |
|---|---|
Nothing | Downloads are only ever removed by you |
Anything not in the queue | Oldest first. Favourites are always kept |
Anything but favourites | Oldest first, the queue included |
Episodes you have finished | Least recently finished first, once they have sat a while |
Favourites are never deleted automatically, under any of the four. Favouriting an episode is the simplest way to keep something you are not ready to lose. Episodes you have finished also leaves anything in the queue alone, and never takes an episode you have not played through.
Nothing is a real choice, not a way of switching the feature off badly: it means you manage the space yourself, and nothing is ever taken without you asking.
Waiting after you have finished
With Episodes you have finished, a second row appears: Wait after playing. It offers Straight away, An hour, 12 hours, A day, 3 days and A week.
Straight away means exactly that — finish an episode and it becomes eligible immediately. Give it a day or two if you re-listen, or if you like to check something you heard earlier in the week.
Your own files
Include folders on this device appears under every policy except Nothing, and its line is the argument for leaving it off:
Those files are yours, not a copy of something a server still has
A download can always be fetched again. A file in a folder you added cannot — if Mediagg deletes it, it is gone. Turn this on only if you are sure those files exist somewhere else too.
It also decides what Keep at most counts. Off, the files in your folders are left out of the count entirely, so a large folder cannot fill the limit and stop new episodes arriving. On, they are counted, and may be deleted to keep within it.
Nothing is being deleted
Check that Keep at most is not set to As many as fit, which means there is no limit to reach and therefore nothing to clear. And a policy of Nothing will never delete, whatever the ceiling says.
