The queue
What is playing next, where new things land, and keeping it in an order.
The queue is what plays next. It is shared across everything in the app, so a podcast episode, an album track and a station can sit in it together and play one after the other.
On Android, reach it by pulling up from the bottom of the full player. It is a sheet inside a sheet — its own drag, its own peek — so you can open the queue without losing the player behind it. On iOS, the chevron on the player — Show the queue — shrinks the cover to a thumbnail and puts the queue in its place; the same chevron puts it away.
The queue's own header carries shuffle and repeat, Search the queue for finding one row in a long list, and Scroll to what is playing.
Reordering and removing
Drag a row by its handle to move it. To take one out, open its menu and choose Remove from queue. Removing something from the queue does not remove it from your library.
Where new things land
When you add something to the queue, where it goes is a setting: New items go, under Queue in Settings.
| Choice | What the app says about it |
|---|---|
At the end | Behind everything already queued |
At the front | Next, ahead of everything else |
After what is playing | Straight after the episode you are on |
Anywhere | Somewhere in the queue, chosen at random |
Keeping it sorted
Keep the queue sorted — Re-sorts after every change, discarding any order you dragged.
It discards any order you dragged. Sorting and arranging by hand are two answers to the same question, and the last one to run wins. Leave it off if you reorder the queue yourself.
Downloading and the queue
If automatic downloads are on, what is in the queue can be fetched as well as what has newly arrived — see Automatic downloads.
